interviewer: IRIKI (Radd Lounge) | translator: Tatsuya Yamamoto
■ The label name doesn't have a very deep meaning, but now I feel that it has evolved over time and has the meaning of ``endure over time''.
- It seems that you are jointly operating with Nicholas James Concklin and Liar.
You run Infinite Machine together with Nicholas James Concklin and Liar.
" Liar became more involved after working on his debut album ' Strange Love ' for Infinite Machine. From mastering our releases and writing press releases to becoming a consultant. “You run Infinite Machine together with Nicholas James Concklin and Liar. How did it come into being???- Liar got more involved after working on his debut mini-album “Strange Love” for Infinite Machine. From mastering our releases, writing the press releases to acting as a consultant. Then he went onto launching his own label. Though is still a part of the core of the label.??Nicholas approached me sometime in 2013 and nowadays he does technical aspects for the label.”
Why did you name it "Infinite Machine"?
"I wanted to use the word 'Machine' for the label name, and my friend, producer Seapooint, who was my roommate in Montreal at the time, came up with the name 'Infinite Machine'. It means non-stop like a machine. It's about continuing to release music, and the label name doesn't have a very deep meaning, but I now feel that it has evolved over time and has the meaning of 'withstanding the passage of time'. The logo was designed by an artist called Teodoro Zamudio . I wanted the logo to be simple and elegant. ”
"Why did you name it "Infinite Machine"? Is there any meaning behind the logo???- I remember wanting to use the word “Machine” for the label until my friend, producer Seapoint, who was also at the time my roommate in Montreal, came up with the word “Infinite Machine” to complement the name for the label. ??The idea was to act as a machine and release music non stop. There's nothing too deep behind the label name but I guess it has evolved through the time and I feel now means that this institution will endure in time. The logo was designed by the artist, Teodoro Zamudio and we wanted a logo that was simple and elegant.??”
ーWhere did the roots of punk and hardcore values come from? Politics, environment, etc.?
I feel you have the same kind of values as punk and hardcore.
"I try not to be political, whatever the label's policy, but it's certainly influenced by environments like punk and hardcore. Scream, post-hardcore, DIY. It could be a band involved in the scene."

“I feel you have the same kind of values as punk and hardcore. Does this come from the politics or the environments???- We are not trying to be too political about things and how we manage the label but we do come from punk and hardcore environments. From playing in screamo, post-hardcore, etc bands to all around being involved with the DIY scene.

How did you get to know Tomas Urquieta?
