Onkalo means small cave or cavity in Finnish. Each piece of jewelry is created with the next 24,000 years in mind. What will the world be like when buried plutonium-239 reaches its half-life? Onkalo jewelry is designed to be discovered in holes when religious symbols and iconography have lost their meaning. Inspired by philosophy, science fiction and a deep hatred of the British class system, each piece is carefully handcrafted using ecological materials and a desire to produce as little waste as possible.
